Walk 2023 In Memory of Tom Feagley

SAVE THE DATE!

This year’s event on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 is being held in memory of Tom Feagley, beloved Executive Director of Bread of Life for over 30 years. The funds raised from your generous support of the Walk are used directly for our programs helping us feed neighbors in need in Everett, Malden and eleven surrounding communities.

Tom Feagley managed supper and pantry programs for those in need, first at St Paul's Parish Supper Program in Malden, then at Bread of Life. Tom ministered to those in need, expanded Bread of Life food programs beyond Malden to neighboring communities, and worked to get funding to build a permanent home for all of Bread of Life's programs. That dream is now being realized with the construction of Bread of Life's new home at 54 Eastern Avenue in Malden.  Tom dedicated his life to making the world a better place through spreading peace and adding color. He did this through his devotion to his extended family, to feeding the hungry, and for more than 50 years, to protesting against war, violence, racism and social injustice and advocating in support of peace, social justice, the homeless, and anyone in need.

Location: Pine Banks, Main Street, directly across from Hunt’s Photo. Walk route is about 3 miles on sidewalks of Malden and Melrose leading back to Pine Banks.

Bread of Life on the move (literally!)

Dear Friends & Supporters:

I am thrilled to tell you that Bread of Life is finalizing plans to start construction this fall on our new facility! Thanks to your partnership and commitment to Bread of Life, our dream of feeding more families in a state-of-the-art building is becoming a reality.

We are excited to be in Phase II of our capital campaign as we work to secure funding for much needed equipment and supplies. As our fundraising effort continues, we are thankful to you and our donors who are critical in helping achieve our goal. We have received recent funding from several supports, enabling us to move forward on finalizing building plans. These supporters include:
• Century Bank loan commitment
• Mass Food Security Infrastructure Grant $250,000
• 40th anniversary sponsors
• Sara and Craig Brandon
• Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation
• Encore Boston Harbor

Bread of Life’s programs and office will move to temporary locations during the 12-14 months while our new facility is under construction, but our services will continue uninterrupted. Staff email and telephone contacts will remain the same. Our immediate projected timeline is:

June 1: Construction documents finalized for cost estimate
June 1: Office and mailing address relocated to 214 Commercial St., Suite 209, Malden
June 23-July1: Food pantry and warehouse relocated to 109 Madison St., 1st Floor, Malden, with first
food pantry distribution there on June 23.
July–Sep: Closing on loans and grants
Sep-Dec: Construction start with demolition of 54 Eastern Ave., Malden

We thank YOU for your on-going support and are happy to share this great news with you. We look forward to an exhilarating year for Bread of Life!

With gratitude,
Gabriella

Project Bread's Walk for Hunger May 2, 2021

Click here to support Team Bread of Life captained by Sara Brandon!

Help Me Feed Kids and Families During this Crisis and Beyond.

I've joined Project Bread's The Walk for Hunger to help get COVID-19 food relief to kids and families across Massachusetts.

60% of funds raised by Team Bread of Life will remain with Bread of Life and the remaining 40% of funds raised will be applied to the statewide effort.

No one should go without a meal, yet Project Bread estimates that 1 in 6 households and 1 in 5 households with children across the Commonwealth are facing hunger right now.

With so many struggling during this challenging time, no one should worry about where their next meal will come from or if they'll able to feed their children.

Will you join my effort to help the unprecedented number of people who can't afford enough to eat due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

I created this fundraiser to provide much needed support to our neighbors facing food insecurity and hunger right now, and I'm asking you to join me in my cause.

Thank you, Sara
