Can you imagine living in just one room with your two kids?

I certainly can't...but that's the reality facing many families in the Boston area right now. If they can't afford their rent or fall far behind their mortgage payments, families can end up homeless in a motel in our area.

In this desperate situation, Bread of Life becomes their lifeline. Our volunteers, delivering meals and groceries every week, are still taken aback seeing whole families crowded into a single motel room.

Needless to say, the families are anxious to get our of there and into their own apartment. They fill out applications for affordable housing. They go to look at prospective apartments, holding onto the hope that "this will be the one."

And they have no kitchen in the motel...yet they still need to eat.

It is up to us to make sure that homeless families have food and no child goes hungry! We can't do that without your help...

With your help we will provide about 900 meals on Thanksgiving Day to local families and people who are disabled, homeless or the working poor.

We will deliver about 350 of those meals to needy senior citizens who are unable to leave their homes to attend the dinner. For this major community event we partner with Malden High School, the Malden Mayor’s Office, the Knights of Columbus Council 13966, schools, caterers, bakeries, and other local organizations.

Your support will also let us serve about 800 meals on Christmas Day to neighbors in need – and give them new socks, gloves, hats and toiletry kits. Our evening meal program feeds 50 – 75 people a night. Anyone in need is welcome to come and eat Tuesday through Friday at three locations in downtown Malden. Over 500 volunteers from our 37 partner organization churches, temples, schools and community organizations are the driving force behind these meals.

Local families, senior citizens and people who are poor or homeless enjoyed Christmas Day dinner last year. Your gift will help provide the meal for them again this year...
