Bread of Life (BOL) is a faith-based, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization that provides food security for people in need in the community and celebrates collaboration with community partners.

current job openings (2):

Receiving Assistant (12-24-25)

Job Description: Receiving Assistant shall manage, organize and maintain the interior and exterior loading area.

Duties:

1)      Maintain exterior waste management area: keep organized and clean, including trash and recycling dumpsters, compost bins, bale shed

2)      Maintain interior of loading area so it is organized, safe, and navigable.

3)      Operate the mechanical lift, communicating with warehouse staff, to send food, cardboard, etc. up to the warehouse, and to take cardboard bales to the shed.

4)      Fire lane access: keep back alleyway and area next to the building clear for fire personnel and pedestrian access

5)      Assist in on-loading and off-loading operations of BOL vehicles and donor vehicles

6)      Donations Intake and Recording:

·         greet and thank donors

·         bring in, weigh, record in-kind donations with donor’s information

7)      Loading door security:

·         answer doorbell

·         keep door alarm ON

·         keep loading door closed when not actively in use by BOL staff and volunteers for on- or off-loading.

·         Prevent entry through the receiving door by volunteers, package delivery services, pantry members and the public. Direct them to the main entrance on the bike path.

Requirements:

1)      Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and to push carts, dollies, etc.

2)      Strong organizational and cleaning skills

3)      Good customer service skills to give appropriate directions to donors, volunteers and the public

4)      Ability to communicate clearly

Supervisor: Facility Manager

Hours: 6 hours per day, 24 hours per week

Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm with one hour for breaks

Grocery Delivery Driver

Hours: 15 hrs/wk:

  • Tuesday 12-5pm

  • Wednesday 12-5pm

  • Thursday 12-5pm

  • Friday (once per month) 4 additional hours: 12-4 pm

Duties:

  1. Deliver grocery orders to individuals and housing developments as needed, using the Bread of Life vehicle, usually a cargo van.

Competencies:

  1. Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive. No special license needed.

  2. Ability to lift 25 to 35 pound boxes

  3. Ability to climb stairs

  4. Ability to speak English. Competency in Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese or Spanish is desirable although not required

  5. Ability to work well with volunteers, be respectful and courteous, and present BOL in a positive light to volunteers, patrons and our community partners/referral sources.

Paid time off, accrued on the basis of hours worked, of vacation, sick leave and holidays, dental plan, 401K plan.

Pay: TBD. $16.39/hour minimum
