A benefit for Bread of Life

When: Saturday November 15th at 1PM

Where: Lafayette Association, 13 Broadway, Salem, MA

Entry Fee: $20 pp. ($10 to Bread of Life, $10 to prize money)

All skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Sign ups for the tournament will begin at 11am that Saturday.

We will be holding a prize raffle and 50/50 raffle starting Friday November 14th at 6PM.

Tickets will be available Friday through Saturday during the pool tournament.  
All raffles and prizes will be announced at approximately 5PM the day of the tournament.

Run Club of Malden - Wobble Before You Gobble

Join Run Club of Malden for the second annual Wobble Before You Gobble 5K race and Kids' Dash! Run through the streets with hundreds of fellow runners and cross our NEW start and finish line in downtown Malden. As a bonus, you’ll be helping raise money for Bread of Life, a great cause that benefits our community.

Wobble Before You Gobble 2024 includes a 5K race and Kids' Dash (best for ages 10 and under). All 5K participants who register by the order deadline will receive a T-shirt.

The Kids' Dash is at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 24, followed by the 5K at 10 a.m. 

Join Bike to the Sea and Bread of Life to show thankfulness by feeding those in need! Ride or walk to various grocers in Malden and purchase non-perishable and perishable food items to donate for families this Thanksgiving! Post event pizza lunch will be provided at Bread of Life. $30 Cash donations are also accepted.

This year’s event on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 is being held in memory of Tom Feagley, beloved Executive Director of Bread of Life for over 30 years. The funds raised from your generous support of the Walk are used directly for our programs helping us feed neighbors in need in Everett, Malden and eleven surrounding communities.

Tom Feagley managed supper and pantry programs for those in need, first at St Paul's Parish Supper Program in Malden, then at Bread of Life. Tom ministered to those in need, expanded Bread of Life food programs beyond Malden to neighboring communities, and worked to get funding to build a permanent home for all of Bread of Life's programs. That dream is now being realized with the construction of Bread of Life's new home at 54 Eastern Avenue in Malden.  Tom dedicated his life to making the world a better place through spreading peace and adding color. He did this through his devotion to his extended family, to feeding the hungry, and for more than 50 years, to protesting against war, violence, racism and social injustice and advocating in support of peace, social justice, the homeless, and anyone in need.

FREE CONCERT - RAIN OR SHINE

Concert will be held inside the church if it rains.

Howie Newman of Melrose and Joe Kessler, also known as Knock on Wood (www.howienewman.com/knockonwood), will be playing their third annual Bread of Life benefit concert at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose, on Sunday, June 25, from 6-7:30 p.m.

The concert is free but donations will be accepted, with a portion going to Bread of Life. The previous two shows have drawn sizeable crowds, raising several hundred dollars each time for this benevolent community organization. It’s a family-friendly show that may include some children’s music and songs for senior citizens. No matter what they play, it features excellent musicianship, pleasing vocal harmonies and … lots of fun.

Meal delivery, coordinated by Craig Spadafora Councillor-at-Large, Malden will be available for senior citizens and disabled individuals by calling Maria Luise 781-640-1320. Please note: senior citizens who ARE NOT Mystic Valley Elder Services clients can call Maria Luise at the # listed. Senior citizens who ARE clients of Mystic Valley Elder Services need to call their MVES case manager if interested in receiving a meal delivery.

This year’s event is being held in memory of Terri O’Brien, an Everett resident and long-time Bread of Life volunteer who worked in our Everett food pantry and mobile market and who was instrumental in developing our Backpack Nutrition Program for Everett public school students. The funds raised from your generous support of the Walk are used directly for our programs helping us feed neighbors in need in Everett, Malden and eleven surrounding communities.

New this year - walk check-in and walk start is at the Pine Banks, Main Street, directly across from Hunt’s Photo. Walk route is about 3 miles on sidewalks of Malden and Melrose leading back to Pine Banks.
